The Unum Academy is a leadership development program for college students in with a strong interest in building their knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities around racial and economic equity work. The three-semester program is for college students in the early stages of their equity journey and is structured around a traditional academic calendar. The fall and spring semesters are dedicated to building knowledge and skills around equity and equity work. During the summer, the program culminates in a paid internship with an organization that works to address issues related to inequity, disparity, and injustice.
Applicants must be between the ages of 18-24, currently attending a 2 or 4 year college or university located in the American South*, and enrolled at their institutions at least through Fall semester of 2024.

Unum Academy sessions will be held every other Tuesday 3:00pm - 4:30pm CT/4:00pm-5:30pm ET with occasional extended sessions for special workshops. Session attendance is mandatory. Please be sure that your schedule will allow you to attend these sessions before applying. Any applicant with a class scheduled during the session period will be removed from consideration.
